Project Consultancy, Research & Design
In Worldschool Consultancy, Research & Design students work on real assignments from people all over the world. To this day 1310 students and 200 teachers worked on assignments from taskproviders in Africa, Asia and South-America. Students invest 80 hours in reseach, design and consultancy in order to improve the world a little bit, within high quality education. The total of student investment in hours is now is estimated at 104.800 hours. The first years of the project were funded by the action programme M&ICT of six Dutch ministries. The project won the sixth contest of this action programme.
Students: final year students in secondary education (Dutch schools: HAVO and VWO).

Project YES! - Young European Specialists
In Worldschools YES! project selected students receive high quality education from European politicians, policy makers and scientists while performing research on 'Europe and climate change'. Selected students present their research during the annual YES! students conference, together and in cooperation with leading researchers, politicians and policy makers in the field of climate change from a European viewpoint. The project is funded by the Dutch ministry of foreign affairs, the Europafonds. The project reaches 3000 students during three project years.
Students: only Dutch school, secondary education, HAVO and VWO

This is a 'Dutch only' project with its own wiki, the YES! wiki (and opens in a new window).

Project GENE - Global Educational Network for Entrepreneurs
Students cooperate with local entrepreneurs in developing countries, primarily through doing research. The students work in a network of other students, teachers, task providers, local contacts in developing countries, scientists, experts on management and cultural experts, the GENE network. The main question is: is to promote entrepreneurship a good contribution to development in developing countries?
The project is funded by the Dutch ministry of education, the 'onderwijs en ondernemen' (education and entrepreneurship) fund.
Students: selected students from 4 pilot schools and invited students from others schools in the Worldschool network, secondary education (HAVO/VWO).
GENE has its own website, in Dutch.

Project Cubic Miles
In a Cubic Miles project, students from two countries adopt a cubic mile in the vicinity of their school. This cubic mile is being visualised and researched using four different dimensions. The pupils then mutually exchange information about the working method and about the results. They make a lifelike exhibition in their own school and develop a web-exhibition with the group from the other country.
Students: secondary education, first year students. This is an exchange or cooperative project for at least two schools, usually a Dutch school and a school in one of the European countries.
Costs: additional 400,- Euro for a short design course at the start of the project.

Project Action Companies
An Action Company is a company for international charity, founded by students. It's not about fundraising. The Action Company adopts a project in a developing country. The students collect information, make a conscious choice for a particular action, get in touch with key people, and make education for other students in the school.
Students: secondary education, first years (VMBO. HABO).
Costs: additional costs in the first year. Teachers follow a training in the storyline approach to education. The skills they acquire can be used in many other projects (examples during the training) and are especially useful in stimulating active learning.

Project Living Biographies
"Living Biographies" encompasses a wide range of projects. In all these projects, students create biographies of people from other countries. The students 'recreate' these people, often with help from the visual arts. The educational technique of "Living Biographies" provides a strong bond. The students can even participate in discussions on behalf of their individual.
The project 'life stories' is a pilot project CSG Comenius Leeuwarden has adopted. Students get no information from the archive, but bring some information back to it: life stories about the "new Friesians, from many different countries of origin.
Other applications in-development are: International study of prejudice. The 65 or so nationalities in your own city. The international conference of historical persons.
Students:
secondary schools (all types!).
Costs: the living biographies are custom made projects. Training in the educational technique of (re)creating persons is included. Please ask for more information if you are interested.

Projects 'under construction':
- The Social City programme.
Project for cooperative action and study by (groups of) schools in Europe. In this project students from different countries try to improve the social quality of their own town. The Social City Programme also involves students in strategies for getting political influence.
- Art and Identity.
Project for global or European exchange and cooperation between students. Make yourself known through art. Involves study of educational expertise of experienced art teachers.
- The Wadden Union. The Wadden Union = Research + consulting + design + art + 'getting dirty' + management + training of vocational and secondary school students from Friesland to Jutland living near the Wadden Sea.
Interested in joining the development of one of these projects? Please email to info@worldschool.nl. We will love you!

The Ambassadors Programme
International Master students share their knowledge and expertise with Worldschool secondary school students who are doing research. Assignments come from development organisations in countries like Uganda, Nepal, Kenya, Ghana, Mexico or Philippines, countries that most of the Worldschool students have never visited. So being able to talk to someone from one of those countries and perhaps even meeting him/her, is really an advantage when working on assignment. After finishing their Masters and having spent one year up to fifteen months in the Netherlands, the international students return to their home countries. Worldschool thought of a way to keep in touch with them and developed the Worldschool Ambassadors program. A program that is both in the interest of Worldschool as well as the international students.
